If you’re buying and/or selling in 2019, you need to read this advice from Verity Member, Karen Laing, Sales Representative for RE/MAX Hallmark Realty. We asked her for the top Dos and DON’Ts when it comes to listing and looking at property.
If you’re the seller…
DO put some effort into the presentation. Everything matters: From the paint colour inside (easy-going neutrals are best) to the staging of the rooms, to the photography that goes with your listing.
DON’T underestimate the importance of your list price. If it’s too high you won’t get enough offers and if it’s too low you’ll get low offers. Do the research with your agent to make sure you hit the magic number.
If you’re the buyer…
DO focus on whether a house is in a good location and if it has good bones – those are the things that can’t be changed.
DON’T sweat the superficial stuff. If you can see beyond clutter, small repairs and poor paint jobs you just might be able to score a great deal!
