Arts & Culture

1) Conductor Peter Leonard of the Augsburg Symphony Orchestra, Lorraine DiSimone, an international opera singer, and the musicians of the Ontario Conservatory of Music, presented a day-long programme addressing the following topics:

  • How do you find the music in your own voice?
  • Can creativity be taught?
  • How do you transform stage fright into stage joy?
  • Understanding through music the dynamics of high performance in groups and teams.
  • Are there parallels between leadership in music and leadership in business?
  • The highlight of the session? Each Verity Member and her guest had the opportunity to conduct a symphony orchestra!

2) Verity Members experienced an in depth and personal look at the National Ballet through a series of four events that were specialized for Verity. It was a unique opportunity to understand the personalities, motivations and talents of the dancers at rehearsal, as well as the enormous amount of effort involved backstage in rehearsing and staging a ballet. The series culminated with an evening performance at the National Ballet’s new home.

Business

Verity Mastermind — one of our most popular programmes, run by and for the Members.

Eight to ten Members, led by a Member/Facilitator, convene regularly to discuss the business challenges and opportunities each one faces. Everyone in the group is a specialist in her own right. Their combined dynamic is what makes the sessions so powerful. Participants are carefully chosen for their particular disciplines — different enough one from the other, yet each one relevant in an overall business context. The interplay of their varied yet well-informed points of view is electrifying. And remarkably productive. Left brains meet right brains and… WOW!

Community Outreach

The Verity mentor/outreach programme involves visits to the Club by women (chosen by the Salvation Army) who face significant social and economic challenges. During the day each woman is mentored by a Member Volunteer, enjoys the spa and swimming pool, and has access to a sympathetic listening ear.

Fashion & Design

Exclusive showings for Verity Members of new Collections from prominent fashion houses, and from several of our own Members who are leading fashion designers in their own right.

Health & Wellbeing

Wine

Apart from the weekly gathering of the Wine Club, Verity conducted a wine tour to Niagara to meet leading new wine makers and learn more about the region. Wine Club Members also enjoyed a whiskey tasting led by Sally Gordon, great great granddaughter of William Grant, founder of Glenfiddich.
